BBB has some tips for avoiding spam that include fake accounts, spam bots and like jacking. For example, beware of social apps that promise usage rewards but instead give you malicious software that will exploit your personal information.
On the other hand, there is like jacking that includes a “Like” image but it is actually redirecting you to a website. Then, there is social bots that make comments and contain links mostly for work from home offers, porno site and adult content. More so, spamming can take the form of fake accounts using a real person’s information like celebrities.
To be safe, you should read and understand social the privacy policy of the social network; modify and control your privacy settings so you can see who see your online activities; and don’t include your financial and personal details in your social media profiles.
